Beer Pressure

Beer pressure,

One little sip, amateur’s beginning,

A trial turned to a habit,

Now there’s always a reason for another glass,

Stress reliever, celebration, just because,

Peer pressure? More like beer pressure.

“I need a drink”, every drunkard’s ‘Dear Diary’,

Toasting with friends to reduced life,

Each shot now worth the price,

Vibing on dancefloors,

Another shot, until he’s out cold,

Peer pressure? More like beer pressure.

With the last cent to spend,

This time he’s alone in the trend,

His friends survived the alcohol as he begun to drown,

His family trying to find him a way out,

In a pool of liquor, he can’t seem to swim,

Peer pressure? More like beer pressure.

Consistency quickly burned his liver,

Club lights became multiple x-rays,

Dancefloors, to an adjustable hospital bed,

Music turned to the constant monitor beep,

Known to be staggering, now he can’t stand,

Peer pressure? More like beer pressure.

Succumbing to regret and ‘if Only’s’,

He couldn’t wait to breath his last,

To get away of the pain,

Not one single shot was ever worth it,

And yet, he bared to face his loved ones,

“One more shot before I go”,

Peer pressure? More like beer pressure.
