Gineration

The infamous anthem, ‘Utakunywa Gin ama Whiskey?’

Defines a glimpse of our society. A society that is corrupted by drunkard Ness and minds that are arrogant. You are not obliged to address anyone these days because it is a waste of time. No offence to anyone but just wild opinions and thoughts.

We partake in a different absolute spirit instead of the holy one. Hmm!

At the clubs and bars, we have the best titrators who barely had this knowledge when it came to the chemical practical titrations back in school. Interesting right? Talk of misplaced priorities.

Alcohol is just another hot cup of tea for many. A good number in the industry drink in order to stimulate their minds to perform to their optimum potential. Early in the morning before opening work, they go for a shot dubbed ‘kutoa lock’.

Today, alcohol is served to all above the age permit. But also, a good number are underage who get theirs from spots that are in for the money and not responsibility. At such a young age one has already tasted the waters. ‘Mapema ndio best ama?’

I read somewhere that,

‘If alcohol is not in your vodkabulary, you should look it up in the whiskeypedia and you will learn if you drink too much, it is likely tequilya’.

Many throw caution to wind and drink more than their limit all in the name of ‘kupiga sherehe’or ‘kupea Friday heshima zake’. Okay wow!

‘Pewa! Lewa! The simple duo party words that create hype and bring great party vibes. Some people end up consuming too much because of the hype and proving their drinking prowess. Shouting “siwezi tingika kirahisi”. Others who see themselves as clever and ‘Mr. Know It All’, mix a couple of drinks in empty stomachs and at times suffer alcohol poisoning. And of course, the hangover doesn’t spare them at all. It really fucks them and has them cursing and praying at the toilet seat while spread across the dirty club floors.

However, these absolutes are no match for this ‘gineration’. Their genes are well equipped to handle any gin. Quite spectacular I would say.

‘We are young! So what?

Let’s have fun and enjoy our lives because life is short, and it is not a rehearsal’.

You are damn right life isn’t a rehearsal. Then what after your bestie is involved in a potent road carnage? They end up either losing their ‘short ‘life, or having a limb amputated.  All these happened because they were driving drunk and filming videos saying, “enjoying life”.

What next? Life will still move on, right?

No fingers pointed at anyone, but when you see me niite mhesh, utapewa mbili…
